Česká republika, hlavní město Praha, leží v středné Evropě, tvoří ho tři historická území Čechy, Morava a Slezsko, rozdělená na 14 krajů. S rozlohou 78 864 km2 a počtem 10,3 milionů obyvatelů. Sousedící se Slovenskem, Polskem, Německem a Rakouskem. Státní zřízení je republika. Nejnižší položené místo je Obec Hřensko 116m.n.m., nejvyšší položené místo je vrch Sněžka 1602m.n.m. Profil krajiny je charakteristicky rozdílný v nadmořské výšce. Většinu povrchu zabírají vysočiny Českého masívu, v pohraničí na severe České republiky se nachází nejvyšší pohoří Krkonoše, k dalším patří Krušní hory, Šumava, Jizerské hory, Český les, Orlické hory, Jeseníky, ve vnitru krajiny na východe je nejrozsáhlejší Českomoravská vrchovina, Beskydy a Bíle Karpaty. Ostatní část tvoří nížinné a rovinné oblasti, Polabí a úvaly na Moravě. Území leží v mírním podnebním pásmu, typické střídáním čtyřech ročních období.
